Our team arrived at the TALITHA KOUMI NGO in Bonoua, Ivory Coast. We were warmly welcomed by the director, Madame Wognin. On-site, we found eighteen children who are housed there and were busy reviewing their lessons.
Right after, at 3:00 PM, we set up the arrangement. All eighteen of these children received their complete kits, consisting of bags, water bottles, uniforms, notebooks, pens, pencil cases, colored pencils, and drawing pencils. Two other children, who are supported by the NGO but live outside, also received their kits.
The rest of the visit took a poignant turn. Madam Director explained to us, and we also witnessed with our own eyes, the critical situation of a little girl needing urgent surgery. The bone in her knee is coming out, she moves around with great difficulty, and to make matters worse, she doesn't even have shoes. We took photos of the X-rays of her hand and foot.
Beyond this medical emergency, we realized that these children are in great need of sponsorships. As for their food, they need provisions.
Despite these hardships, it was a moment full of emotion and the children were happy.
